Environmental Services - Home Inspection

Mold Inspection and Testing

Mold is a severe health hazard that can exacerbate allergies, breathing problems, headaches, and a number of other medical conditions. Inspecting for mold is more about detecting the presence of moisture than mold itself. We begin every mold inspection with a visual assessment. Our home inspectors use specialized tools to locate moisture and places where water may be entering your home. We use thermal imaging cameras (infrared or IR cameras) to locate moisture that is behind walls or below floors and not found during the visual assessment. Our mold inspectors have extensive construction knowledge and we provide recommendations for fixing your mold and moisture problems. We follow IAC2 Standards of Practice.

Radon Testing

The EPA and your state health department strongly recommend that ALL home buyers and owners have their home tested for indoor radon. Hiring an NRPP Certified Radon Measurement Professional is the only way to ensure that the test is performed according to ANSI-AARST Standard for Conducting Radon Measurements Homes. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classes radon as a carcinogen, meaning that radon poisoning can lead to cancer. It is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and the second leading cause in smokers.Radon is a health risk, as it is not detectable and does not cause noticeable symptoms until its transformation into lung cancer.
